The Blue Zebra Angelfish is a beautiful and distinctive variation of the classic freshwater angelfish. This variety displays the traditional zebra striping pattern seen in wild angelfish, enhanced with stunning blue and turquoise coloration that becomes more noticeable as the fish mature.
Juvenile Blue Zebra Angelfish may initially show limited blue coloration, but as they grow, their bodies often develop rich iridescent blue highlights that create a striking appearance in the aquarium. With their tall, elegant body shape and graceful swimming style, they make an outstanding centerpiece fish for planted aquariums.
Although angelfish belong to the cichlid family, they are relatively peaceful compared to many other cichlids, making them suitable for carefully selected community aquariums.
Blue Zebra Angelfish are social fish that can be kept with other peaceful tank mates of similar size. However, like most angelfish, they may show territorial behavior during breeding periods.
Because of their natural predatory instincts, small shrimp and delicate invertebrates are not recommended as tank mates. Larger shrimp species and snails may coexist in spacious aquariums with plenty of hiding areas.
For breeding setups, it is often best to keep them in pairs or small groups in a larger aquarium.
Blue Zebra Angelfish thrive in planted aquariums with gentle water movement. Their tall body shape makes aquariums with greater vertical height especially important.
A well-designed aquarium for this species should include:
• Dense aquatic plants for cover
• Driftwood or natural decorations
• Open swimming space
• Moderate lighting
They tend to feel most secure among plants rather than caves, so a planted aquascape works best.
Blue Zebra Angelfish are omnivores and are easy to feed in the home aquarium. A varied diet will help maintain their health and vibrant coloration.
Recommended foods include:
• High-quality flakes
• Micro pellets
• Frozen foods such as bloodworms or brine shrimp
• Live foods occasionally
Providing a balanced and varied diet will support proper growth and coloration.
