Lemon Tetras are peaceful shoalers that thrive in groups of 6 or more. They spend most of their time in the top and middle levels of the water column but also feed in lower areas.

They are safe with most other small, gentle fish and larger peaceful invertebrates. While they may occasionally nip at very small shrimp, adults are generally safe. They should not be housed with aggressive or overly boisterous species that could intimidate them.

Care & Feeding

Tank-raised and adaptable, Lemon Tetras do best in soft, slightly acidic water enriched with tannins and leaf litter. They require clean, well-maintained water to remain healthy and display their best coloration. Floating plants help diffuse lighting and bring out their natural golden glow.

They are omnivorous and will accept a wide variety of foods:
