The Red Aeneus Cory Catfish (Corydoras aeneus) is a colorful variant of the classic Bronze Corydoras, admired for the beautiful red-orange coloration that develops as the fish matures. This lively bottom-dwelling catfish is peaceful, hardy, and an excellent choice for community, planted, and nano aquariums.
Known for their playful and active nature, Red Aeneus Cory Catfish thrive in groups and spend much of their time exploring the bottom of the aquarium. Their schooling behavior and vibrant coloration make them a wonderful addition to almost any freshwater setup.
• Beautiful red-orange coloration that intensifies with age
• Peaceful and hardy community fish
• Active bottom scavenger that helps clean leftover food
• Excellent for planted and nano aquariums
Red Aeneus Cory Catfish are very peaceful schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least 6 or more for natural behavior.
Suitable tank mates include:
• Tetras
• Rasboras
• Dwarf cichlids
• Angelfish
• Other peaceful community fish
They may occasionally prey on very small shrimp, but they are generally safe with larger shrimp and ornamental invertebrates.
These corydoras spend most of their time on the bottom, so substrate choice is very important.
Recommended aquarium features include:
• Fine sand or smooth gravel substrate
• Live plants and driftwood
• Plenty of open bottom space
• Gentle water flow
Avoid sharp or coarse gravel, which can damage their sensitive barbels.
Red Aeneus Cory Catfish are omnivorous scavengers and will accept a wide variety of foods.
Recommended foods include:

• High-quality flakes
• Frozen bloodworms or brine shrimp
